Criminal Practice Directives
Effective until September 18, 2011

The notices are in HTML or Portable Document Format [PDF]. To view PDFs you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader.

The Court of Appeal issues Criminal Practice Directives pursuant to s. 2(2) of the British Columbia Court of Appeal Criminal Appeal Rules.

They are intended to provide guidance in the conduct of an appeal.

Practice Directives do not have the same force of law as the formal enactments in the Court of Appeal Act and Rules, but they express the view of the Court regarding matters of practice and procedure. Litigants and practitioners are expected to comply with them or show good reason for doing otherwise.
